Casting is a metal heat processing process that humans mastered earlier and is one of the basic processes of the modern machinery manufacturing industry. The casting molding of zinc castings can reduce mechanical processing, thereby greatly reducing costs and time.
We will inject the molten metal into a hollow mold made of high-temperature resistant materials, and after cooling, we will get the product of the shape we want, which is a zinc casting. So what processes do we know?
1. Gravity casting
Gravity casting refers to the process of injecting molten metal into a mold under the action of gravity. We also call this process casting. The molten metal is mainly poured into the gate manually, and the zinc casting is obtained by relying on the self-weight of the molten metal to fill the mold cavity.
The process of gravity casting is relatively simple and the mold cost is low. There are relatively few pores inside. We can perform heat treatment, etc., but at the same time it is not very good at processing thin-walled parts, and the surface of the cast zinc casting may be relatively rough.
2. Pressure casting
The method of filling liquid or semi-liquid metal at a high speed under high pressure, and forming and solidifying it under pressure to obtain zinc die castings is called pressure casting.
High-pressure casting can help zinc castings fill the mold quickly. Its production efficiency is very high, the product density is relatively good, the surface finish of the manufactured products is good, and parts with relatively thin wall thickness can be produced; however, because high-pressure air is used for filling, the internal gas will expand, which is easy to produce pores inside the zinc casting. We should be careful not to use heat treatment when performing pressure casting, which may cause the final zinc casting to fail.
